Distribution. From the extreme west of Kashmir, where however it is not common, throughout Nepal, Tibet and Burma.
This Pigeon has always been considered a bird of very high elevations, i.e. as Blanford says, from 10,000 to 13,000 ft. in summer, and from 6,000 to 9,000 ft. in winter.
Its note is easily distinguishable from that of any other Pigeon I have ever heard; it begins with a coughing, jerked-out note, and then continues with a deep double rolling-note which might be syllablized as "whock-whrroo-w h r r o o," the third note more prolonged than the second. It is a very deep resonant note, and can be heard at a great distance.

分布. カシミール地方の西奥部にも見られるが、ネパール、チベット、ミャンマー全域に分布している。
この鳩は高高度に住むと考えられている。例えばブラッドフォードの研究では夏は約3000~ 4000m、冬は1800~2700mに見られると報告されている。
鳴き声は筆者が聞いたことのある他の全ての鳩と簡単に区別することができる。咳のような、引き出すような声から始まり、深い二つの巻くような鳴き声が続く。
文字で表すと"フォック-ルルー- ルルーーー"というように、三つ目の音色は二つ目より長い。この鳴き声はとてもよく響くので、遠くに離れていてもよく聴こえる。
